Aussie Coastal Reno featuring Breezway Louvre Windows
KILLCARE, NEW SOUTH WALES, AUSTRALIA
Located on the Central Coast of New South Wales, only 90mins drive from Sydney, this Aussie Coastal Reno is a functional yet spacious home for the whole family to enjoy. The floor plan was reconfigured to suit the family of five. The downstairs area has four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a laundry and second living area, while upstairs features an open-plan living, dining and kitchen area. The transformation of the beach house is a great example of how selecting appropriate products and materials that can withstand the challenging coastal conditions enables the Killcare residents to enjoy the home for many years with minimal maintenance required.
Homeowner Jarrad was adamant he would not spend his weekends re-staining timber windows, and with quintessential timber frames specified by the architect, a compromise was found to complete the desired timber look and feel for the home. Breezway Louvre Windows and doors in aluminium coated frames with the natural looking DecoWood® finish held the solution and were carefully chosen to complete this renovation project.
Located just metres away from the ocean and in the thick of the central coast bushland, the UV-resistant and marine grade finish was simply a no brainer.
“Timber just isn’t up to the job in this environment. And DecoWood is almost like second to none. It’s durable even more than standard aluminium.” says homeowner Jarrod.
Megan chose DecoWood® Curly Birch for the window frames and doors throughout her home, blending perfectly with the homes interior timber floor and furnishing selections.
The sensational ocean views are framed superbly by the oversized windows by Sublime Windows, and the DecoWood® finished Breezway Altair Louvre Windows add the finishing touch, allowing the ocean breeze to filter right throughout the home.
“I always prioritise kitchens, floors and windows,” says Megan. “If you get those right, your house will last.” Megan unquestionably adhered to her guiding principles with remarkable success. Additional windows were incorporated into the home to enhance access to natural light, and with the main living room extending out on to the deck via oversized sliders this create a harmonious indoor/outdoor atmosphere.
Megan says she would recommend DecoWood to anyone and everyone.
